Anybody know when PCT and Ernie Maxwell will reopen?

I drive up today in hopes of doing the PCT north from 74. Closed. Ernie Maxwell, closed also. Anybody know when the No Access will be lifted?

Short answer is no, i don't think anyone here on the forums knows when closures will be lifted. PCT along Desert Divide and the Tahquitz Valley area will probably be closed for a long time. I would guess Ernie Maxwell trail around Idyllwild might be open fairly soon.

Ernie has re-opened

PCT is open from Devil's Slide to South Ridge only - so you can hike from Humber to Tahquitz

Orders 13-11 and 13-13 are the current ones

Went up Devil's Slide to the fire lookout on Tahquitz on Wednesday. The yellow tape and closed signs were all over Saddle junction. The only trail open is the one to the lookout. Saw a CCC crew coming down after working on the trails in the fire area. I thanked them profusely for their efforts. They were the only people on the mountain until I was almost to the parking lot on the way back. From the lookout the route of the fire is not readily apparent. The trees on the east end of Tahquitz valley still looked somewhat green. I hope they stay that way. There was even a little bit of water on the DS trail. The bees were sure loving it.

Did Ernie Maxwell today with the family starting from Humber. Lovely hike with the occasional faint sound of the Jazz Festival. The only obviously burned area was just up the 243 from the 74. The village was pretty busy, looked business as normal.
