Silver fire ...

General Palm Springs area.

Based upon the maps posted it seems like this ought to be easily visible from the freeway and the frontage road that runs parallel with the freeway just before the junction with the 111. Has anyone got any photographs? It looks like it stopped short of the timber in most places.

Video from the Silver Fire: Up Close and Personal with a DC-10 dropping Phoscheck.

The DC-10 drops at about 2:00.

Great video.

BTW the aircraft seen about 2:00 isn't a DC-10, it's either an Ilyushin II-76 or British Aerospace 146. The DC-10 is seen about 3:45 into the video.

When I was in Idyllwild last Friday Deer Springs trail had just been closed (again) due to the Silver fire. Anybody know if has been re-opened?

Hi,
Just spoke with San Jac state park this Thur morning, they told me Deer Springs, Marion Mt. & 7 Pines are open (to the peak).
I don't recommend Marion, it's always been steep, but after the flash floods in
July, it now is worse, especially on the way back down.
