Prudent decision, Sarah. Good luck on a reset either in time, for a safe Skyline climb, or to another location. I have no doubt that if you get a couple day window of opportunity from your schedule this fall, Skyline veterans would be happy to tag along and facilitate an enriching and enjoyable hike.

Vivian Creek trail on San Gorgonio would be a great alternate, as Hikin' Jim suggests. (plus you cross Mill{s} Creek to the trailhead ;)

Great choice on the peanut butter and banana sandwiches! (along with some honey and raisins from Hadleys--yumm).

The pinned map with detailed grid of pace, time, distance is a great resource for newbie and veteran alike (though the FB group does not give proper attribution to those, here, who created it)."Florian's Cache," BTW, refers to the same Florian offering advice here.

Interesting to see pixels of of MSJFers on your pins, too.
