General Palm Springs area.

Talking to state park personnel today, they stated that all along Wellman's Divide are fire crews that are still working on the clean up of the fire and they don't want hikers interfering with the crews.
Happy Trails!

Tim, i rode the tram the first week it was open. I was 8 years old. Can i apply to be a VIP?

Florian, I was 8 & rode the tram probably the first day. I remember how excited I was watching them build it...the helicopters landed by the El Mirador where I watched them take off & land (no mishaps). My uncle Culver Nichols owned the land & he went up every day. I'll never forget my first pass the 1st year...25 dollars & was good for 4 people!
Get out of that damn contraption & walk!

Jill, thanks for that link.

Looks like the Deer Springs Trail is open. Might be interesting to hike up there since so much is closed. Probably have the place to yourself.

"For next [year]... the [USFS] will re-route the trail. Efforts will be to avoid local roads and keep it in the forest until the PCT can be restored."

Not a lot of bypass options along the Desert Divide. :(
