Water at Laws Camp?

Postby RichMcG » Sun Jul 07, 2013 7:15 pm

Saw a post that Willow Creek was dry, wanted to know if there was water at Laws for next weekend. Or Caramba would do if we had to. Thanks.

I was at Laws on night of June 28. Willow Creek had water in spots. There was not a lot but it was nice and cold. I used some for cleaning up. We had carried water up from Humber Park as a precaution and were glad to have done so. Others used the water there. We could have too, but it was easier to use the water we carried and it lightened our load.

I know of a troop that camped along where Tahquitz Creek runs and they had some seepage that they that used to pump for their water supply.

Hope that helps.

We had 2 stagnant pools at laws to pump from and the crossing of Willow north of Laws had water, but lots of skeeters. Tahquitz creek was flowing in Little Tahquitz Valley just off the trail, but the pipe in Tahquitz meadow was bone dry, as was willow creek crossing. Up Devils Slide, Middle spring was dripping across the trail. Didn't press on to Caramba, it got late in the day and didn't want to chance it.

Really? The pipe spring in Tahquitz Valley was dry? That's disappointing.

Thanks for all the updates.

Here's the good and bad of Water on the Southeast side:
Pipe Springs bone dry

Willow Crossing Bone dry, hiked up and down:

Laws Camp under the bridge, 2 stagnant pools, up Willow there were more pools but full of mosquitos.
Plan was to check out Caramba, but we figured it was pretty dry, so we stayed at Laws Camp.

Jim, you can add this to your water report.

We saw several groups at the 4 way intersection that thought for sure there was water at Pipe Springs. At least Tahquitz creek had flowing water about 1/2 mile away. Let's hope that area recovers quickly. I had always gone up to Wellman's from Saddle junction, last week as the first time in the meadows and Tahquitz, I noticed how wooded it was. We were already talking about coming back next spring! Bummer.
