perry, I was looking at that possibility. I was looking at a topo map and it appears to be all down hill and about 6 miles. does that sound right? I don't think I would be up for any long flat or uphill sections on the bike after walking 23 miles

That sounds about right. From the bottom of the tram road to the museum it's very gradual downhill, almost flat in town. It's usually a tailwind.

Hike Up and Alan - I e mailed Hikin_Jim but have not received a reply yet. He might be out of town.

FYI...I saw a post by Jim on the San Gorgonio board tonight.

I just received an e mail from Hikin_Jim that he has been working ridiculous hours on the job including week ends, except for one trip to San Gorgonio last Friday. He thanks us for our concern, and hopes to be back next month.

Where exactly do you lock up your bike? I'm not familar with the tram base layout. Do you leave your helmet locked to the bike?

Yep, I loop the cable through a hole in my helmet. There's a log over by the creek that's out of the way but still on video camera in case anybody messes with my bike. To reach the Bobcat lot you pass Cougar going up, cross the bridge in front of the main tram building, then go downhill past Alligator Lizard lot. The other lower lots are also on video camera, but since they are not visible from the main building it increases the chances that somebody might mess with your bike. (It would be nice if the tram just installed a cheap bike rack or accepted a donated one...)

Has anyone heard from Hikin_Jim lately. His absence from this board has been noticed.

Hi all. Sorry to cause all the fretting. I'm fine, but as Cy mentioned, I've been working like a mad dog. Let's just say I like eating regularly and having a roof over my head if you get my drift about why I was working so hard. My boss even called me asking for status when I was out on my backpack. Sheesh! Boss is out of the office this week, so a little less pressure.
