I've been wondering about his absence too. His last posts, that I've seen, were regarding his planned backpacking trip near Baden-Powell Labor Day weekend.

He hasn't been on Richard Piotrowski's message board since the first of the month either. I hope his absence is due to so much hiking that he has no time to post! :?

Cy,
I'm going to try to make on 9/29. If I make it by 2AM, I'll go with you or I'll join Udi at 2:30AM.

this will be my first time hiking C2C, how do you get back to your car at the museum after the hike??? I am planning on joining the group on the 29th. I hope to hike all the way to San J. I think I am going to head out there Friday evening and try to sleep a few hours at the trail head.
If anyone wants to carpool from orange county, send me a PM.

I keep a list of local taxi services, but am almost always successful in bumming a ride by asking in the tram car as it reaches the bottom.

Most of the times I have been up there I've just had someone working at the lower tram station call me a cab - it only takes a short time for the cab to come. It's $20-$25 for the cab.

I lock up my mountain bike on a log in the Bobcat parking lot. There's no bicycle rack at the tram.

perry, I was looking at that possibility. I was looking at a topo map and it appears to be all down hill and about 6 miles. does that sound right? I don't think I would be up for any long flat or uphill sections on the bike after walking 23 miles

Dave - I will be going with the Sierra Club at midnight and Udi might come with us. Another group is supposed to be going around 2.30 am. Udi is going to schedule c2c trips for the ODC (ouddoorsclub.org) on Oct 6 and Oct 20
Hike Up and Alan - I e mailed Hikin_Jim but have not received a reply yet. He might be out of town.
