deer springs/strawberry junction to LRV water question

Postby pattyt » Fri May 24, 2013 9:01 pm

Hi Y'all, I am taking my boyfriend backpacking for his first time and wanted to do a relatively easy route to the summit not including the tram. We just want to take our time so I planned to drive from San Diego, park at Deer Springs and then do 1 night near strawberry junction and then up to the summit the next day, stay at LRV that night and then come down next day. So basically a three day trip.

So my question.. I have been reading here and on the PCT water site to try to check conditions. It seems like there is not a ton of water up there because of the low snowpack so I was wondering about water along our route. Has anyone done this trip recently? Should we get it done soon, before the end of June?

Any and all advice would be appreciated as we are San Jacinto newbies!!

At last report, Little Round Valley was dry. There should still be water at Deer Springs.
