I humped the water up this afternoon. What a fun hike in perfect weather. At the Apple Canyon Saddle, where the Zen Center trail comes up, look downhill to the North about twenty feet. There's a fallen down tree with the roots exposed right near the junction. I put the water behind the roots and covered the bottles with some leaves. Shouldn't be too hard to find.
There's a trail crew up there working the section of the PCT north of the Apple Canyon Saddle. They are staying at Apache Spring. I talked to one of the women on the crew and she said there's water there in the spring box but it's kind of murky. No matter. You can bypass it anyway.
Have fun.
