Done

Postby halhiker » Wed May 22, 2013 5:54 pm

I humped the water up this afternoon. What a fun hike in perfect weather. At the Apple Canyon Saddle, where the Zen Center trail comes up, look downhill to the North about twenty feet. There's a fallen down tree with the roots exposed right near the junction. I put the water behind the roots and covered the bottles with some leaves. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

There's a trail crew up there working the section of the PCT north of the Apple Canyon Saddle. They are staying at Apache Spring. I talked to one of the women on the crew and she said there's water there in the spring box but it's kind of murky. No matter. You can bypass it anyway.

Have fun.

And…

Also, the weather was PERFECT with a nice breeze. I did see a rattlesnake but not on the hike. I was checking out the Yellow Post campsites near Herkey Creek and he was lying across a dirt road near campsite 3. Probably about four feet long. He didn't like it when I got out of the Jeep to get him off the road. He buzzed something fierce but he moved. Keep your eyes open. They're definitely out there.

I'm hoping to do just that, Andy.

Off in the morning around 0445. Wish me luck.

Hmm. There's apparently a slight chance of snow on Tuesday. Maybe we should try to finish it in three days like Hal says...
