So sad. Condolences to all his loved ones.

May his spirit soar above the mountains he so clearly and dearly loved.

There seems to be some confusion... I am Greg, and not Lucas' father. If anybody would know exactly what had happened, it would be me, but my back was turned. I saw Lucas slide down a slab and off a ledge system along with some loose rock and the rope. Rock slide, not fall (meaning something was molested that gave way). My guess is he stood on/put his hand on/rope got caught up on a block that was nearby and a little loose. Until I walk back to the start of the climb, I can't tell for sure.

He lived and loved these mountains, and aside from being one of the strongest local climbers was a quick trail hiker/runner. He did Tahquitz lookout 1:55 car-to-car via devils slide and enchained san jacinto and tahquitz peak in 6:49, without ever training as a runner. Just off the couch.

I'd been meaning to join this site for years, I love these peaks. You'll be seeing me a bit around here, I hope that's ok :)

Can't begin to imagine what you've gone through and have felt. So tragic a loss. Look forward to seeing more of you Gregg.

Thanks, I moved to Idyllwild to work the climbing shop for the PCT season and have absolutely fallen in love. It's my last day working, then taking the entirety of summer off for climbing/running goals, so it's bittersweet.

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.
