Next time you fly into John Wayne Airport in Orange County, get a window seat on the left side... Epic overhead view of the Mtn we all love on a recent flight home from DC. Shot this old school style with 35mm film (kodak portra 160, contax g1 w/ zeiss 45/2 planar)

Awesome shot from a not so common perspective. And I love how prominent Tahquitz is from that angle. Thanks!

Outstanding!

You can see not only San Jacinto Peak but Miller, Cornell, Folly, Jean, Shirley, Marion, and Newton Drury as well. Farther out you can see Tahquitz. Very cool angle.

Great shot, one of my favorite views of that area, I have a few from the last time I flew back from the Mid-west but the film camera captured way more detail.

HikinJim, can you copy this picture and name all the stuff including Shirley, Shangri La, Leatherneck, Falls Creek, and each of the branches of Snow Creek, Fuller Ridge, Pine Cone, etc....

Would be a great reference tool?

I'll add to it where I can :D

Here's a first cut (below). I've not heard of Shangri-La or Pine Cone. Those might not be HJ accessible. I think Leatherneck Ridge is the one west of Chino Canyon. Have I got that right?

Leatherneck is barely visible in lower left hand corner.

Shangri La is the section in dark just to the left of Yale Peak. See FB for picture I sent privately.

Pine Cone, meant to say Pine Cove or Pine Wood (Private Community next to ) Seven Pines Trail head and start of Azalea Trail and Dark Canyon Campground just above where you have marked Fuller Ridge.

The rest is perfect with Wellman's Divide just next to Saddle Junction, correct?

Nice job Jim :D

OK, got it.

And, yes, Wellman Divide is between "The Hump" and "Saddle Jct" and left of "Jean Pk".

The two north ridges on either side of snow creek impress me the most. It would be interesting to venture down the left one from Miller saddle sometime.

Splendid photo! Great timing with the late p.m. sun to really bring out the depth and dimensionality.

Thanks for the ready reference labeling, HJ.

Might also consider the prominence north of Miller at the "point" of the ridge, where it trifurcates.

Kristen Peak; 9204 on topos.

kind regards,
