Conditions on Mt San Jacinto

My wife and I are planning on hiking Mt San Jacinto March 26, 27 or 28. What will be the conditions on the mountain at that time? We will only have hiking boots, no spikes or snow shoes. If the snow is too deep, what other hikes would you recommend in the park?

Is there a good webcam that shows the top of the tram?
Might take a quick backpack the first week of April and a good snow report would be nice.

I just read that there is some snow (sounds light) above 7,000 feet. I'm hiking the PCT from highway 74 to the I-10. Hopefully I'll be able to hike up to the summit on the Jacinto Peak alternate trail.

BTW - if anyone feels like doing a hike for a few days, you are welcome to join me. I am starting on the trail at highway 74 on Sat the 23rd, doing around 12-13 miles a day. If all goes as planned I will be doing Jacinto Peak on Monday the 26th.

Sounds like a great trek Jen. I highly recommend the Cedar Springs camp site. A bit (a mile or so) off the PCT north of Pyramid Peak, well signed for the junction there. A beautiful spot and if it is clear, beautiful views down into Palm Springs.

I hiked up deer springs to the PCT to wellman on to the tram last thurs spent the weekend with family in yucca then hiked up snow creek and down black moutain rd yesterday and today got home to Idyllwild this afternoon. there is still lots of snow over 7000ft on the north faces 1 to 3 ft of it for miles but bone dry on the south faceing slopes I was suprised to be postholing for hours with as warm as it's been lately.
