This is a FAQ, and I feel bad if I just ignore it when people ask, but it takes a while to go find the old thread...

Perry, would it be hard to simply take a thread like this and make it into a sticky?

Here's a recent example. The title mentions trail running, but of course hiking would be just as fun.

Have fun out there Adrian. Remember, you could still take the tram up and just hike around a bit. It's strikingly beautiful up there just after a fresh snow, and Saturday just might be perfect conditions!

Hope this helps!

Note to all non-local would be hikers:

There are no good trails here. None. All the trails are rocky and rough, covered in thorns, cacti, rattlesnakes, scorpions and poisonous spiders with steep drop-offs. Earthquakes ravage the landscape and many people have been swallowed in vast crevasses just by daring to venture off the pavement. There are no maps to any of these terrible trails and no one mentions them because at least 90% of those who embark upon a hike in this area never return. The stories about the Indian demon living in the hills are true. The hills are also known as the home to mountain lions, bobcats and the chupacabra. To go hiking in this area is tantamount to a death wish. You'd do better wrestling a grizzly or picking a fight with SEAL Team Six. Don't do it, I beg you.

Having said that, I like the West Fork Trail in the Indian Canyons, the hike up Murray Peak from Bogart Trail, all of the Art Smith Trail and Bear Creek Palm in La Quinta. Of course, I am a magical Shaman with supernatural powers and thereby protected from all evil. Your experience may vary.

I used to have a set of links on the C2C hiking guide that tells about other local trails. It's been awhile since I've done all the research, so I'm not sure what is new, moved, deleted. There's multiple web sites about trails in the area.

For Skyline conditions, I was thinking about linking to a popular thread and leaving that link for the next several months on the C2C guide because I will likely forget to update it as the conditions are changing rapidly in spring and the foot-traffic picks up, meanwhile we will be taking care of a baby and working a lot.
