Thanks for the intel. I definitely would like to explore that area more.

My understanding is that Hell For Sure and North Fork are impassible from below although supposedly one can ascend the North Fork if one can detour to the west around the falls at the lower end of the North Fork. From the photos I've seen, it would be no easy task.

The route up the ridge from Middle Fork to Bighorn Mountain is supposedly doable, but that would be a rough go.

I know some folks who completed the hike to San Gorgonio from the Whitewater Preserve. They returned via the North Fork but were thwarted by the falls and had to climb out onto the Middle Fork ridge to exit.

DANG! :shock: That's one heck of a trip.

And that's exactly the "detour" that I'm talking about -- heading up on to the ridge to get around the falls in the lower North Fork. Significantly challenging terrain.
