Skyline on Thursday, November 8

Postby Ed » Sun Nov 11, 2012 4:48 pm

I hiked Skyline on Thursday to celebrate my 71st birthday.

I picked up one of those tubular neck scarves, blue with 'Grand Canyon' printed on it. If it is yours, send me your address and I will mail it to you. It was around where you clamber over some boulders as you approach Coffman's Crag.

There's a big can of tuna at Flat Rock, I think I've seen it twice now. Rather weathered but unopened. I feel guilty not packing it out (and my dog loves canned tuna), but at my age and at that point I'm reluctant to throw more weight into my pack; actually, I'm typically pouring out excess water at that point. Hope someone younger packs it out. If you want to score a can of tuna, it is several yards to the left of about where the trail continues uphill, sitting on a rock, half hidden under a bush.

Hi Ed. I've seen that can of tuna as well. Was half buried in the dirt a couple weeks ago. I set it up in view in case someone was desperate and needed something to eat. I prolly should have just carried it out as you mentioned.

Happy Birthday, Ed, and what a great way to celebrate it! Congratulations, and may you have many more Skylines. That's OK about the can of tuna. Leave it for one of the youngsters. Or maybe Ellen and I can use it if we get into a situation, being as she isn't too fond of sardines (Just kiddin', Ellen!)

Now, if I only should be so lucky as to be doing Skyline at 71!

Congratulations to you Ed, that's the way to celebrate a birthday! And I hear you about not wanting to pack extra weight. I'm sure someone will pick up the can.

Again, congratulations!
