Parking & Trailhead to PCT, Snow Creek

Postby Rob D » Tue Oct 30, 2012 7:18 am

Hi,

I'm planning to hike a section of the PCT starting at Snow Creek and up towards Fuller Ridge in a couple of weeks. Just doing 1 overnight with car. I've read some past postings about where to park - wanted to make sure I get this right (don't want to get towed!). And finding the trail is apparently not so easy. Any help from folks on the list is most appreciated.

For parking, I think that on Snow Creek Rd - Before the town sign is okay. There appears to be dirt pull off on the East side of road. Google maps shows this would be north of intersection with "Falls Creek Rd" though does not look to really be any street signs.

For trailhead: Seems that you follow what Google Maps shows as "Falls Creek Rd" for a bit. Although I'm not sure if it's paved or just dirt. Then when PCT branches off is there a sign? or just have to find it?

Thanks, Rob

Howdy Rob :)

I had problems finding the trailhead parking in the dark and recommend chatting with Hiker Hal. He has pictures which are very helpful: http://hikeeveryday.blogspot.com

From what I recall, you park, walk up a road towards the Desert Water Agency and then hang a right hand turn at a rock that has "PCT" written on it with an arrow to the right. From that point on, I did not have any issues route finding.

I am planning to dayhike from the TH to the tram BEFORE it snows this fall.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen
