Skyline musuem parking restricted this weekend

The Palm Springs Art Museum parking lots will be closed Friday and Saturday for "Day of the Dead" events. Any hikers going up Skyline this weekend should use street parking or perhaps the Ramon Road trailhead.

Temps are supposed to be back into the 90's this weekend. Perhaps those who hike in such weather can have their own "Day of the Dead".

HJ: The low is the crucial factor (assuming you don't turn around) and it's slated to be around 60, which is nice. I like it a little cooler still, but this is good weather. When the winds subside you should bring that little tiny thing out this way and let her romp around on the big sand dune by Windy Point. My kids love that place.

Florian: Thanks for the heads up. Parking by Ramon makes me nervous with all the break ins. If I can't find a place right by the museum I just go to Starbucks, get an espresso, then start from there. It's only a little way extra and the espresso helps me jumpstart this old body.

I often park at the Ramon trailhead and have never had a problem. I'll be working at the museum Saturday helping out with security.

Goot to know, there are 4 of us (two cars) going up on Saturday and one mreo at the tram and Meetup has a group going up as well. I usaully park on the street which shouldnt be a problem at 4am.

So is the trailhead on Ramon Rd much harder? It adds a bit more distance but should be easy to follow. Hopefully I see some of you tomorrow. A group of five of us are starting at around 3am

I think the Ramon trail is easier. Is is just a bit longer but i prefer it to the museum trail. Parking is on the north side of Ramon. Walk up the dirt road and look left after about 50 yards for the trail. Some ppl miss the trail and continue up the road and get confused.

Don't park on the dirt shoulder!!! There are definitely break-ins, I've witnessed the aftermath of at least three or four. The thieves know to look early in the a.m. for Skyline cars. Always park on one of the side streets (not the last one though, it has restricted parking) and walk a block or two to trailhead.

Sounds like a good incentive for some folks to try out some other trails in the area for a change.
