Fall Color Report: Aspen Grove

Postby Hikin_Jim » Tue Oct 09, 2012 5:40 am

I took a little hike over to Aspen Grove in the San Gorgonio Wilderness this past Sunday to see how the fall colors are doing.

They're looking pretty good.

P.S. The fall colors are now at their height. Don't wait until this weekend if you'd like to see them in person. There's a storm coming on Thursday that will probably remove a lot of the leaves.

Howdy HJ :)

Absolutely gorgeous, thanks 8) Sister Sally and I still need to hike from Aspen Grove and climb the Four Tenor's as they're called by Pi.

Thanks, Sally. We had a really fun day.

By the way, thanks again for hooking me up with that stove that I used at the Hikin' Fools potluck. We used that stove again this weekend to make a very nice lunch.

Satisfied customers. :)

It's just a really nice set up for simmering (and cranks out the heat for boiling too).

Good composition and capture of light in your photo set, Jim. That makes a fine family hike; not strenuous, and with a rare and memorable treat as the leaves turn.

kind regards,

Thank you, 'Noid.

I thought a few of those photos turned out well for a point-and-shoot camera.

This one in particular I like:

It really is a good family outing. The first weekend in October has been really a good weekend the last couple of years.

We had some good eats too, like this baked-on-the-trail banana nut muffin.

They're especially good when hand delivered by the local muffin sprite.

It was a really great day. :D

Howdy HJ :)

This what Pi calls the Four Tenors:

What you want to do looks a heck of a lot harder.

Gorgeus aspens and lovely little person -- the perfect day indeed 8)
