Sounds good. Any thought as to time? What time do you speed demons normally pop over the top at Grubbs? I assume with the speed you're going that you probably shoot three or four feet into the air as you crest the rim.

Since I've got the 10,000 essentials in my pack, maybe I can rustle up a little breakfast. Omelettes are my specialty...

The 2012 Hikin' Fools Potluck will be held on Saturday September 22 in Long Valley.

How about 12 noon? This allows the folks with speedy alien DNA to do Skyline. The rest of us can do the Round Valley loop or something similar.

By they way Steve, do you remember that xc route I mentioned to you over on San G? I did it yesterday, thinking I would just explore and go part way. Instead, I went straight through with no problem.

Nice!!! I've had my eye on that ridge I believe Kathy Wing has gone up or down (or both). I've seen a car shuttle hike listed where folks go up Forsee and come down that ridge to the South Fork trail.

I'm finding that my favorite loop hikes involve going up steep ridges (Dobbs and Register) and coming down less steep trails (Vivian and Baldy Bowl trail). Have you gone up Dobbs yet?

I absolutely agree with you about Forsee. Thanks to winter snowshoeing, I've learned a good short cut up after the trail swings east and comes to the lookout over the canyon. Rather than heading back over to the west, you shoot up the ridge until you intersect the San Gorgonio backbone.

I'm pretty sure Z-dude has used this route in the summer. I did it for the first time in the summer on my birthday.

Hi Ellen! I don't want to hijack this thread, so I'm going to start a different thread about the xc route with some pics.

About the get together, it looks like only the usual few have replied. I hope some occasional Skyliners and/or some lurkers will come. That would sure add to the fun.
