Camping: Water locations

What is the water situation on the mountain this "dry" year? I'm considering going up the Devil's Slide trail and camping midway between the saddle and the summit. Is there any water up there this year, or do I need to carry my water up? Also, is it legal to camp on the mountain?

And yes, it's legal to camp. But you'll need a permit from either the Forest Service or State Park depending on where you'll be camping.

Thanks! Can I get that permit at the ranger station in Idyllwild?

Yes, but remember that there are two ranger stations, one federal and one state. Which one you need to go to depends on where you're planning to camp.
