Hmm, the video of gnats in IHC should work (although BB Code for this site will not allow embedding this):

https://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=43433963

I did the 5Ts trail again today, avoiding the IHC crowd, and of the three groups of hikers I queried about IHC gnats/flies this a.m., two said they were "Horrible!" and one group of four said they were "OK, not bad, but one gent was stung by a bee."

A few years ago I picked up a Mountain Hardwear hat with roll-up gnat net, which is now the "Eleventh essential" stashed in the McGee pack-cube, for the nonce.

Gnats? Nuts!

Panting just makes them an easy serve trail snack, without even getting cricket legs caught between your teeth. Snorking one up a nostril is annoying, but I really hate getting bug bits caught in the corner of my eye.
