Hi I am looking for information on the Skyline trail. I have done the trail several years ago in October and have climbed San Jacinto last year from the Devil's Slide trail. IF I climb, I will start at 1AM. I have experience climbing at night (R2R2R last Nov, Mt. Whitney Main Trail in June,2010). I have been climbing for 34 years. That being said I know its very hot even at 1AM. I plan on carrying 8L of water/gatorade and lots of salty snacks. My thoughts are that I will be at the 4K to 5K foot level by sunrise. I'm guessing I wont need snow/ice flotation or traction. Can evaluate things at the tram station before heading out for the summit. I will be taking the tram down. Again, I know its very hot in July(hottest month) but feel like the risk can be mitigated by climbing early and taking 8L of fluids. I live in MA and have a trip to LA this July. I plan on climbing Baldy, resting a day and then climbing C2C. If this hike is just too dangerous , I will climb San G again. Thank you in advance for your input
