Good news, The Sugarloaf is Back!

Postby cynthia23 » Mon May 21, 2012 10:35 pm

Did anyone see Friday's DS article about the Sugarloaf reopening? (can someone who's better at this link to it? ) It will make the journey back down 74 much nicer, assuming the food is halfway decent.

First person who eats there, please post on your experiences.

I stopped by late on the first day they were open, I think, and they were very friendly and hospitable, the chips and salsa were great!

Sugarloaf Review

Postby sthewlis » Thu Jun 07, 2012 9:16 am

I stopped for a late lunch on my way back from the PCT a week or two ago. I waited nearly an hour for my hamburger--turns out that the waitress "forgot" to place my order with the cook, or something. I had asked for bacon and avocado with my burger, but it came bare. When I requested the B & A I had ordered they brought me two strips of bacon that had been cooked for so long that they practically black and "shattered" into little dry fragments --literally burned to a crisp. The fries, on the other hand, were almost raw in the middle and swimming in grease.

However, the amiable owner apologized for the delay, and unsolicitedly comped the two beers I had while waiting for the food to finally arrive. Every one was sweet and friendly, and I trust that as they get shaken down into a routine these kinds of glitches will no longer be a problem. I sure hope so, as I wish them every success.

Thank you for these reviews posters! I hope the previous poster's experience won't be typical. It's hard to run a restaurant and the new owner doesn't have any previous experience in the restaurant business, so that makes it even harder. Let's hope he gets it ironed out. Please keep posting reviews peeps!
