Just got back to San Diego from my FIRST palm springs trip! I definitely enjoyed it. We started the hike a little after 4:30 and had breakfast at the tables and saw Ellen trekking up. She gave us some good advice. We made it to the tables in 32 minutes. Of my group of seven, one wasn't ready for the hike. The other five charged ahead and I took a slow trek up with him. Unfortunately, I ended up carrying two backpacks of water and didnt get to the tram until ten hours after we started. Three from my group made good time and ended up hitting the summit. Without trekking poles and carrying two packs of water, I have to admit I was a little worn out! To me, It was a little harder than Half Dome, even when not going all the way to the summit. Kind of like a continual stair master for hours and hours.
With the timing and none of the other three from my group wanting to take a crack at the summit, I decided to put it off for the next time. It was still an amazing trip and I cannot wait to do it again, possibly in the fall. Thank you all for the good advice along the way.
