Thanks all!

We've postponed until the 24th.

Hopefully it will look like Kathryn's photos!

best to all

I think this weekend's storm dumped at least a foot or two on Skyline's upper section. It might be good to postpone the date of the 24th even further.

We went up Skyline yesterday and we passed through the traverse during the storm. These pics show what Skyline looked like yesterday. We were in the snow around noon to 2 PM. What you see is just a bit of new snow. Since these pics were taken there is probably at least a foot more of snow and perhaps 2 feet in some places!

We went up Skyline on March 24th. Great weather (fairly cool).

There was plenty of snow on the traverse. It was consolidated, mushy, and not icy. We followed in the footsteps of others on the traverse, and occasionally post holed a couple of feet when the snow gave way.

Great fun.

Howdy All :)

Hiked Skyline yesterday (March 31). This polar bear left too late -- 6:30. Melted all the way up to the traverse. Met Canada Matt at Florian's cache, it was his first Skyline and it was obvious he was smitten 8)

The traverse has slippery, post holey snow. Matt and I were already tired and this just finished us off. The "trail" up from Coffman's wasn't much better.

Thanks to Matt for his great company and to his mum for giving us a ride back to the museum. Had a wonderful meal at Guess Where  with fellow Skyliners 8)

Report on today's hike to follow -- got robbed at the San Bernardino peak trailhead.

went up on sat with Ania, just ahead of you i guess. checked second box and was fine.

went up yesterday, all water out of second box was gone and my transfer stash had been robbed.

wondered if it was the marines from sat? you see anybody obviously unprepared when you went up on sat. about 4 liters were taken between sat 8am and sun am.

weather is getting warmer people, bump up your water. however, yesterday was perfect.

sorry to here about the robbery, what happened? they broke into your trunk ? through the backseat or the trunk?

Howdy All,

I was cooling off at St. Florian's cache when Canada Matt came up. When he learned how much further it was, he was considering turning around. Since he had started a half hour behind me, I knew he could get to the tram. I shared water, baked chips, and rootbeer candies with him and we headed up. Matt was very humble and honest about not carrying enough water -- he will be well prepared on his next trip.

I packed out an empty pint water bottle from St. Florian's cache. There were two empty half gallon containers at the cache -- I plan to add to the supply when I'm back out. I did not check the rescue boxes -- don't know who depleted them.

The first two gentlemen I passed were with the army and stationed at Fort Bliss. Thanked them for their service and asked if they'd done Skyline before -- one had. They were carrying 50 lb for training.

The second two gentlemen were Wii and his friend (brain cramp). Krai, Janine and I had lunch with them.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen
