Downed trees from wind storm

Postby Blooty » Mon Jan 30, 2012 12:18 pm

I hiked around your mountain yesterday and came across quite a few downed trees - most likely from the recent wind storm. Give you all something new to ruminate over.....many trees blocking the trails.

No, the downed trees are all on the other side, once you gain the saddle from Devils Slide trail. we went on a circuitous route and downed trees are everywhere.

Howdy Tracy :)

Thanks for the update 8)

The storm wrecked havoc on Skyline as well. There's a particularly big tree laying lengthways on a narrow spot on the traverse. That sucker went down sometime between last Wednesday and last Saturday.

You can either walk on the tree (like InFerno) or squeeze between the tree and rocks on the left side of the traverse (my route).

I still highly recommend microspikes and poles.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Saturday morning I walked across that downed tree in the traverse. Looked back and went on my merry way. Saturday afternoon I crawled between the tree and rocks. Looked back and went on my miserable way. What a difference a few hrs. make! LOL. So Steve and Ellen either way works.[/list]
