just a note for those using sc road. the licence plates of all vehicles driving past the power station in either direction on sc road are photographed by DWA. you can see the round, tan cylinders as you drive by. Apparently, DWA is able to sort resident vehicles from recreational users and maintains a database. balaclavas anyone?

It's a federal offense to run a plate without the legal right to do so it also a violatation of our civil rights. If they have cameras outside their property line it can be considered harassment. The DWA is a water agency not a law enforcement agency so I personally will never hide my face anywhere on SC Village Rd up to their property line which begins after the PCT trail. :)

Apparently? What evidence do you have to support this claim?

i have personally spoken to DWA security personnel and was told that multiple
surveilance assets are employed in the approach from the north...not just sc road. this week i was told by two sc residents, one with family members who are former DWA employees, the other who, like me, spoke directly to security personnel who confirmed the ability to identify specific vehicles and their travel patterns. unless one guy has all the comings and goings in his head, i infer there has to be a database somewhere for reference.
i said apparently because i have no other proof but you are welcome to go see the cameras at the power plant for yourself.

I'd say so

This whole DWA thing is really turning into an Area 54 scenario....half the excitement being evading capture, let alone not being spotted. Makes you wonder, what are they're REALLY trying to hide in there?

I'm up in the mountains backpaking almost every week mostly alone so after fighting it for month's I broke down and bought a PLB not one like a SPOT that you can do diffrent things with and pay to use This one has a 5 year battery and no fee's and it's only good for 1 thing saving my life. It realy kind of sucked when I got it. I spend $200+ on it set it up in 5min's put it in backpack and hope I never need it not realy a fun thing to buy and it add's a couple OZ's to my lightweight setup. I love it. I don't head out alone without it and when thing's get dicey some were that nobody has been for months it's good to know it's there.

I was curious about what kind of terrain surrounded Simpson Park where the hiker died. I found this blog and website
