skyline ascent record?

Postby bdog » Sun Dec 18, 2011 9:33 pm

Does anyone know what it is? I've heard it is 2:30's (to the tram door?)...and possibly held by the person who created this message board?

thanks for any help.

I did a super 2:00 once.

Let me explain. "Super" is the opposite of "sub" . . . super means above and sub means below. Thus, a "sub 3:00" means a time below three hours and a "super 3:00" means a time above three hours. So I did Skyline in more than two hours . . . seven hours, in fact.

Does that help?

Sam's a monster. I'm not sure about Perry's record, but I think it's THE record. Even if it weren't, if someone else found tons of shortcuts and beat his time, Perry could beat it effortlessly, so it's simplest to say he owns Skyline. Perry, what's your best time on Skyline, back when it was much longer and there were no shortcuts?

By reviewing past threads it sounds like Perry's PR is ~2:45. So is Sam's the ~2:30 time?

I may try for a fast ascent on Friday or Sunday and am interested to see how my time will compare with the fastest known time. Though, the conditions aren't ideal....

How many times have you done it before, if you don't mind me asking? I'm going up Friday as well.

I have probably done Skyline about 5 times.

Do you know what time the doors to the tram building open at the top? The first tram up on Friday is 10 AM.

Thanks.

Back in 2002: museum to grubb's notch in just under 2:45. back patio of tram in 2:48:44. For all I know, the path in 2002 may have had shortcuts compared to 1980's. By 2030 it will become a straight line... It wouldn't surprise me if somebody has done it faster. Even by today's shortcuts, from what I've heard about the newer version, 2:30's would be faster.

Perry's being modest, because that's his style (and why he is so fricking awesome. He has no 'tude whatsoever.) His time was on a much longer route (i.e. the regular trail!) He was--and still is--the all-time fastest. He rules. That's why I call him Grandmaster P! :)
