Dusting off the snowshoes -- again!

Howdy All :)

Hope springs eternal -- it looks like it's coming down pretty good in Long Valley right now.

I just may have to go up on Wednesday and see if the winter route to the peak is doable yet.

I can't wait to hear what it's like up there! Have fun Ellen. I wish I could come down with the "Achoooo"....snow flu and join you!

Ditto to the above. I had to pick a day off 2 weeks in advance and it was today. Needless to say I bailed, since I have tried during storms before and it was not fun. (Plus that muscle pull after tennis Saturday - need to stick to hiking) Yes please let us know Ellen, living the life of Riley, how it is up there. And Kathryn I have been meaning to tell you I love your Pic!!

Happy Holidays!

Howdy All :)

Heading up with Indie Jack and other friends tomorrow on the first tram. Will post a trip report. Hopefully we will have enough snow for the cross country route and won't be spending the day snowshoeing up the main trail

Happy Holidays :-)

Is the winter route from the tram fully accessible with the new snow fall? I want to come up soon, possibly after the next storm and give my first go at snowshoeing :D

Howdy Stockwell :)

As of Wed Dec 14, the winter route to San Jacinto isn't ready yet

It doesn't look like we're going to get much snow tomorrow or Friday.

I'm tempted to check out the north side of San Gorgonio (San Bernardino peak, Forsee creek and South Fork trails).

Howdy All :)

I've decided to snowshoe from the tram again tomorrow with Indie Jack and other folks. This way I can start in winter clothes rather than having to carry them up Skyline

Other than the lack of sufficient snow to head up the winter route to Miller saddle, it will be winter conditions -- cold and windy with possible snow  This time, I'll pass on the bushwhacking
