3 hours to flatrock is smokin'. Good job! However, nobody is every going to beat bluerail's 1:50 minutes from Ramona Rd to the Tram. What an animal!

Keep posting those times!

I get the idea of someone feeling good about themselves because they are getting faster and stronger. I also understand why people track their own times. when they are training. I'm just struggling with why people post certain information. I have also been questioning why I post certain information too.

I think people are so excited after completing this hike they, well, act excited! I was so nervous about it doing it by myself for the first time (I did see 5 people) that a wave of emotion hit me as I got to the tram. It was really cool and I definitely want to go back for more soon, weather permitting of course. So I think we should give everyone a pass on their irrational exuberance! And yes, no competition please because everyone wins. Keep Posting!

Your posts are fine Kathy! And you include lots of cool pics too, so no worries.

When people break their own personal records, I like to see that posted because I enjoy seeing other people succeed.

If others are faster than me, it doesn't make me any slower. Steve and Ellen both have best marathon times that are way faster than my best. And that Fernando monster has a Tram Road Challenge that beats me by over 3 minutes, which is a long time for such a short race. I'm not bothered by that at all.

I heard that Ryan Hall ran Vivian Creek to San G in 1:45. That's insane. But it sure was fun to hear about it and wonder if he took the ravine after Halfway Camp...

Unless someone is posting mean stuff, I don't question why. But, as Magic Walt told me (although it was about poker), if you sit down at a table and don't see anyone who's a fish (read: sucker), then you're the fish! Maybe the fact that I don't question my posts means I'm the one who needs to start thinking! Nah. Might take away from my trail time.

Seems like Skyline completion time is a touchy subject?? I had no idea. I was just pretty excited about beating my previous best...

If you run an official race, do they subtract out your break time from your total time?.

I think you're on the mark about total time; most people ( and official races, I believe) would consider break time as part of the total [race] time. After all, rest periods allow one to recover (and spring ahead for the next segment).

I have a gripe about one of the FKTs for an eastern trail, where the person only counted the actual running time, not the break/rest/sleep time...just doesn't seems like a record that's not "airtight."

I like to beat records (all my own!)

I myself enjoy keeping time.I like doing triathlons,1/2 marathons, tram rd and 5k runs. like the turkey trot this thurs. And my times on skyline are a good indicator of my conditioning. Plus by being better fit, I have seen parts of this mountian(north face)that left me in awe.and lived to tell the tale. My first skyline time 7hrs30mins and almost 300 skylines later and 12yrs .my most recent skyline was also sat.I set a new PR 2hrs59mins56sec...2hrs2mins to flatrock .and I'm stil on cloud nine.So if you keep time or just enjoy the stoll which I stil do from time to time. ITS ALL GOOD. So PAtrickSupra keep posting times and trips. Because they are people a lot more obsessed with times .....but I'm not one LOL ....this my first post I was waiting til I broke 3hrs.

About a wek later I went by my self and did it in only 7 hours then I have gone a coulpe more times and I have not improve much on my time but it's like everything eles I know the more I do it the better I will get I want really some day be like most of you cause you are all my heroes and I look after you that's why I read these post to learn from all you so with said. If I'll ever meke it in 4 or 5 hours I will be posting like crazy I don't see anything wrong whit it.congratulations! on your new record my frien an keep it up cause you have these rookies like me looking after you. One more thing I almost forgot: When I did it the first time I met Fernando and Steve and they ride with me on the way to the museum parking lot and they were going for their third time on a row in the same day how crazy is that? I don't even want to think about ever doing that ok I am just saying !!!
