I'll never forget reading your wonderful trip report -- its one of the reasons I wanted to do the PCT to tram hike. And then I went to the wrong trailhead twice

Assuming conditions permit this hike on Sunday Nov 13, at least I'll know my way to the trailhead  Sally asked me to double-check our starting point on my way home from Palm Springs this weekend

Here's that trip report in case anyone missed it.

Howdy Everyone, I am intrested in this hike (not with you guys but in the future) I am curious how this compared to C2C? 31 miles is also a long ways for a day hike. Is there anyway to break this up in two one night? I am guessing this is also advisable only during certain times of the year? Are there any profiles or true trail maps of this hike?

Thanks and enjoy your trip, be safe!

The trail is obvious and is listed in any of the PCT material for that area, once you get to Fuller Ridge and come to the juntion in/near Marion Mountain Trail there signs that show you where to turn left to head to the summit and from there it's fairly straight forward hike to Wellmans Divide and back to the Tram.

C2C versus PCT (from Snow Creek to Summit and back to Tram) the Skyline trial is steeper until you get into Long Valley then it's a casual hike to the summit and back. That's approximately 21 miles roughly to do the full C2C, the PCT hike is slightly harder because after climbing for 22 miles those last three miles to the summit from Fuller Ridge area put's you to the test, then you get to head downhill to the tram but you are basically spent by then. Having put in 25+ miles to the summit you know you've been going uphill all day, there's very few flat spots just a two mile section on the ridge by Black Mountain Truck Trail Camp that is less steep and the PCT hike starts at 1,200 feet and you gain 9,630 in elevation with very few places to get water, at least the C2C has the Tram snack bar in the middle. Just my Humble Opinion.

Yeah I got some maps and profiles from a PCT site. So basically not as steep as skyline but longer. I like the fact that you are commited to the summit more or less. Thanks.

It sounds like a great hike, Ellen - very intriguing - have fun this Sunday!

And it was great seeing you on the 30th and thanks to Indio Joe for the ride back. Always one of the "high points" of the year getting to do Skyline.

Howdy Robert :)

I could not believe the change in the weather in just one week -- from hyperthermia to hypothermia. It was great to not overheat on the Never Ending Ridge and thanks to two early Skyline trail angels, the traverse was broken in nicely.

I am hoping that we'll be able to do Skyline for a few more weeks at least.

Skyline maybe, but think we missed the chance for the PCT up Snow Creek. There's always next year.

I'm gonna see if I can do the full through route up to Mission Springs though. I guess it could be done as an out and back, but that would be kinda long. If the snow stays minimal around 8k it'd still be doable.

Interesting saying from a man standing in snow -- in shorts!

Howdy All :)

Due to the recent snowfall, I'm canceling the Snow Creek PCT to tram hike :( I am a polar bear, but have no desire to break trail through snow on a 31 mile hike. I'm not THAT crazy
