I have had knee problems for two decades and finally had to stop running.
I was training for the C2C 8 months ago and fell pretty bad onto my right knee, in the mountains just to the south of the musuem. I actually slipped and fell straight down with my left leg straight out but my right leg folded up underneath me. (one of those yell out loud moments) My right knee hurt and was gimpy every single day from that point forward and I had to cut my aerobic conditioning down 80%. I went and got orthodics which helped "a bit". I completed C2C last month while monitoring my knee the whole time. It never got better, but it never got worse, which is what I was really concerned about. Strangely in the past several weeks it has felt much better.
I was initially frustrated and angry about it, especially when I fell in view of skyline! But I gave it alot of focus, and tried a bunch of new things, and its worked out well enough for me to hike cautiously.
