Howdy All
Had a nice day on Saturday hiking with Craig and Indie Jack. It was warmer than expected with no breeze

We were treated to a particularly beautiful sunrise at 3 K. We ran into Kathryn and the San Jacinto group as well a lot of the folks who'd left at 3:30. The traverse felt heavenly after the slog up the manzanita. When we passed a group sitting on the side of the trail, I said they looked good and was told that I must not be wearing my glasses

Indie did a 5:45, his first sub-6 Skyline

Craig was showered and dressed for work by the time we arrived at the tram. After lunch at Las Casuelas, he went to work

Nothing like "walking" up Skyline to work
After lunch, Kathryn, Jack, Don and I headed over to the museum to check out the Day of Dead celebration and Andrew Wyeth exhibit. Beautiful museum, I'll be back.
On Sunday I hiked with my friend Robert from Denver. Met my friend Indio Joe in the museum parking lot. Unfortunately, it felt even warmer than Saturday

Scott caught up with us at 5.5 K and I got a hug -- he looked great as always. I packed out the large plastic bottle laying on the ground below the rescue box and pulled other trash out of the box. We ran into Joe's group as he was leaving Flatrock, then headed up the trail to the shady spot by the oak trees for a fuel break. Sweated our way up to Grubbs Notch where Joe was waiting for his buds. Don showed up a few minutes later. Robert and I scrambled up the rocks to the tram bar and ingested refreshing cold celebratory beverages. Doug and Diana joined us, along with Joe and his friends. Craig was our conductor down -- he didn't look at all like he'd hiked Skyline, worked, then got up early to work again on Sunday.
Thanks so much to Indio Joe for the ride back to our cars -- hope to return the favor

Had another great meal at Las C with Robert before heading home. I hope we start to get some cooler weather for Skyline and other hikes.
Miles of smiles,
Ellen
