Jim,

That was great info and I thank you very much for your analysis. Do you have a favorite alcohol stove you take along or are you always checking new ones out? What one do you recommend when there are two hikers?

I have thought about emailing Tinny about his indoor methanol burning. I figure he certainly (gasp, pun not intended) knows what he is doing.

I've got about a dozen alcohol stoves, several of which are home made from Pepsi cans and the like. Alcohol stoves are cheap, so it doesn't hurt to try a few.

The best, most light weight combination I've found is the Caldera Cone. I've written an article for Seattle Backpacker's Magazine if you're interested. The article isn't published yet, but here's a preview of the article: A *Practical* Ultralight Alcohol Stove System. The preview expires after about 8 hours. Let me know if you have a problem, and I'll regenerate the preview.

Seriously though, if you can get high proof (190) drinking alcohol, that's about the best stove fuel.
