Hi Cy. Nice guitar in the background. Makes me miss Skyline - I haven't been on it since the spring, so like everybody else I'm looking forward to the tram re-opening. I betcha it's busy that first weekend if it's cool out there.

Stan - I miss it too. I havent done it for two years now. I HOPE i am still up to it.
This trip is the first Saturday after the tram opens. I hope I am not breaking privacy with the following plug (cut and pasted)

This is a beautiful but VERY strenuous hike that ascends about 8,400 feet in about 9 miles. We will start at 5am at the Skyline trailhead, which is next to the Palm Springs Art Museum parking lot. The temperature can drop up to 30 degrees as we ascend, so I recommend bringing appropriate clothing. If the temperatures heat up by this date, we may have to start earlier or even cancel. I will adjust our start time closer to the date of the hike if necessary.

We will take the tram down. The cost for a one-way car is about $12.00. We will then share a cab back to the Museum. The cab fair usually ends up being about $5.00 per person.

I recommend bringing all the regular hiking essentials, AT LEAST 3 liters of water, food or energy bars, gels and definitely electrolytes. Electrolytes are especially important to prevent or stop cramps.

Waiver:

Every year there are many rescues on Skyline and over past years several hikers have died. Please do not attempt this hike unless you know that you are capable of doing it and please bring the necessary essentials. Skyline is especially dangerous in warm or hot weather. Please note that you agree to pay for any medical or legal cost involved in case of an injury to yourself, and request your heirs to respect your agreed waiver in case of a death due to any reason, by signing up for this event.
