Fantastic trip report, Ellen. Truly enjoyed reading the entire report and following your progress on Google Earth. For some reason the Spot waypoints are no longer available. Your transparency was wonderful and refreshing. Just really loved reading about your adventure. Hope to see you on the mountain sometime!

Howdy All

Forgot this tidbit that happened on the drive up to Lone Pine...

I could finally see Mt. Whitney from 395. I was going down a slight hill and forgot to take my foot off the accelerator. Plus, the bottom of the hill was in shade. I drove right by three police cars. Oops Took my foot off the accelerator. No good -- a police car pulls out behind me and turns on the lights. I pull over.
Officer: "I pulled you over for your speed. Do you know how fast you were going"
Blonde "I'm really sorry but I have to pee! Just drove up from Riverside without stopping. I guess about 80 mph?"
Officer: "85 mph"
Blonde: "Ouch I'm excited -- I'm doing the John Muir trail and headed to the Whitney Portal today.
Officer:: "Awesome! North or south or south to North?"
Bloody Blonde: "North to south."
Officer: "Great, just watch your speed and have a great hike -- I won't cite you."

A good omen -- as I said, I met lots of great people on this trip.

A blonde was speeding on the highway when a police car pulled her over.

The policeman walks up to the blonde and says "Excuse m'am, could I please see your driving license and registration."

The blonde looks at the policeman angrily and says "I wish you guys would get your act together. Just yesterday you take away my license and then today you expect me to show it to you!"
