After comparing Ellen's track with my map last night I was a bit concerned about what was going on around Donohue Pass. I'm so glad she's back on track. I can't wait to hear her stories!

It would be nice if the Spot terrain map showed the trail.

I hope you have a nice rest tonight, Ellen.

Better maps would be great. Of the ability to export waypoints. On the other hand, SPOT is providing a lot more information than, say, nothing. :D

Maybe the Spot just isn't sending out accurate signals. Her track went off about where you leave the trail to climb Mount Lyell at about 10,500'. She could have gotten off track if there was snow covering a section of the trail and boot tracks were going both ways - toward the JMT and toward Mount Lyell.

Looks like Ellen is moving again, she's moving faster as "Spot" has her walking straight across "Garnet Lake" - now that fast  :D, hopefully her food supply is still good as she's about a half day off her posted schedule, should be able to get to resupply later today - Go Ellen Go :D

Wow! Walking on water!? I knew Ellen was a good hiker, but ...

Live sighting of Elen this AM near rainbow falls. She was trying to figure out the maze of trails around Reds meadow.

We had to send in a human observer because Spot has not been helpful since yesterday afternoon.

No activity for awhile, wonder if she's taking a day to herself? It's not like her to stop for this long, she usually keeps moving when she has that many miles to complete.

I think she has just outrun Spot, which has been very spotty lately. (Lady Macbeth had something to say on this subject.)

Another data point -- Squaw Lake late Friday. That's about 78 miles into the hike.

Ellen has made it to Squaw Lake. If she started at Duck Lake this morning that's about 11 to 11.5 miles today. She went down to Tully Hole today, and if my memory is correct , that goes down, down, down and then back up, up, up again. I remember it being a tough slog when I did the JMT.
