I went hiking today and there were quite a few lightning strikes in the skies in all different directions. Had anyone every been hit at mt jacinto?

It's raining cats and dogs right now (4:20 am), with lighting and thunder.
Whoopee!

Last fall I was hiking to Tahquitz Peak via the meadows. It was a crisp clear day after several days of rain, and the mountain was wonderful. While I was taking in the morning sun from the east, a storm was building to the west unseen by me at the time.

As I rounded up PCT to the saddle where the trail to Tahquitz splits off, lighting started. I made haste down off the saddle and left the peak for another day. I threw on some rain gear once off the exposed saddle and enjoyed a nice hike in steady rain back down Devil's Slide.

All the normal mountain rules apply. Be alert, be flexible, be prepared.
The difference between a good hike and a bad one is usually just a reflection of what I bring with me.
