Tram to SJ summit, 7/30

Just a short little report. Hiked from tramway taking the 8:40a car to SJ summit. Gray clouds overhead on hike up but not threatening. Trail not too busy. Heading down a couple hours later lots more people coming up trail. Then some rain, then harder rain, then hail, then lightning (in the clouds i think, no ground strikes). Fun fun! I was glad i was coming down and not one of those still heading up. Didn't bother with rain gear getting just a little soaking. After an hour looking back up from the High trail it seems to have been a storm of short duration. Caught up with Doreen too on our way down above Wellman Divide. Happy day on the mtn.

sounds fun w/ weather, wanted to go today. have you tried that ATV trail from the high trail? fun little shortcut.

Yeah, what is that thing? I used to take that route before there was a tractor driving it. (Didn't take the route today.)

They're doing work in RV & the ATV cant make it on the stream route so they made this route + if you follow it, you will see where the ATV has to bypass many obstacles. They will clear it in the fall & make a new one after the snows next year. I am pretty sure the trail was there last year too.

Saw six Bighorn while out hiking today but no nudists. Talk about boring.
