Llamas on Trail

Postby Lermo » Sun Jul 10, 2011 10:12 am

I had the weirdest experience on my training hike this morning. While hiking down the trail back to the trailhead, my eyes beheld a sight I couldn’t believe, Llamas on the trail!! It turns out that this fellow is conditioning his llamas for an upcoming Sierra pack trip. Anyway, just wanted to share it.

Here are some pictures:

Have fun out there!

Hi Lermo,

Several years back, while on the JMT, we followed some hoof prints that we couldn't make out for a few days. Finally we caught up with the critters. Yep, llamas. The owners of the creatures were an older couple who had done lots of backpacking in their younger days, but were no longer able to carry loads themselves.

Thanks for sharing those pics. That one llama looks like he would benefit from some orthodontal work!
