Message board get together

Postby Cy Kaicener » Sat Jul 14, 2007 2:55 pm

Many thanks to MagicWalt for a world class BBQ of four different meats, and the company of some superb hikers. We had Zippedydude, Scott ss, Donnie, Walt, and Jim and his girlfriend. It was good to put a face to some of them. I hiked most of the way down to Flatrock. There was cloud cover till 9 am and then it got hot. I am already looking forward to the next one when we can get more of you out there.

Now I know why the "magic" is there in magicwalt. Holy smokes that was some good Q. Many thanks for organizing.

Good to see everyone yesterday -- and to be in the San Jacintos on a gorgeous day.

PS Michiko says our discussions were very "technical." :)

For those of you who met us at the "top of the tram" get together, Michiko and I are pleased to announce that we have just gotten engaged, wedding date TBD but some time early next year. It was fun to meet you all.

PS Any rumors that Michiko is marrying me just in hopes of attending another get together are completely false (although who could blame her given Walt's BBQ?) :)

Hi Jim & Michiko,

Glad to hear that you 2 are considering the new frontier!

Maybe we'll see more of Michiko on the trails!

Thank you all.

I keep telling her that. :) If you look at this photo http://picasaweb.google.com/jim.barbour/JapanTheMountainsOfShikokuIshizuchisan/photo#5098528064418154594 I'm sure you can see the sheer joy she experiences while hiking.

Seriously, though, thank you all for your good wishes. Now begins my biggest "expedition" yet.

I've seen that look before Jim. Its the one Jean uses when she is wondering if me trying to use the timer function for taking pictures is a waste of time.
