June 4th Skyline Trip Report

Met up at the museum with Ellen and Perry, departed @ 3:45, temperature @ 65 I think. A group of 3 had departed @ 2:00 and another @ 3:10 or so. Nice views of PSP and the valley on the way to 2500' and no signs of reptilian life. Beautiful sunrise revealed some thin high cloudiness to the east as we approached 4300' where we took a very brief break. Continued past Flat Rock where we ran into new friends I met a few weeks ago, temperatures were still mild approaching the pine and the traverse. I had begun to slow significantly so Perry continued and Ellen being mountain and hiking savvy stayed with while I got it together again. Ellens' encouragement, coaching, tips, and great company led me to my best and most enjoyable day on Skyline yet. Did not seen any snakes! The friends we saw at Flat Rock had Ellen join them in a cab back to their cars and wouldn't let her pay her share, very cool dudes! When I left PSP @ 11:45 temps were still pretty low, just around 84 deg. Thank you Ellen and Perry for a great day.
