Haha. Yeah, when I reached the Travelodge on Monday, I had no desire to ever make that climb again. But by the time I got home the next day, I was already plotting my next trip. I'll probably be back in the fall...

If anybody's 23-hour rule has come up and you're feeling inclined, we are looking like we are on for June 18 if no snow or crazy heat waves roll in. Our plan is to actually return to Fuller Ridge, not the tram, where a shorter-option group will hike in from and provide our resupply (and ride home).

Thanks for all the tips, looks like we're on for sat jun 18. Weather and snow look good. Will post anything notable after. Two of us starting from Snow Creek around 6am, meeting another two at Fuller Ridge TH mid-late morning (hopefully), going to the peak and back to Fuller Ridge TH, back for dinner. If anybody's bored...

I just might be doing it myself. If I do, though, I'll start earlier, probably well before dawn, around 3 or 4, hoping to finish around 11:00. Got some chores to do around the house, can't spend too much time out messin around. 6:00 might leave you exposed to heat and sun - you'll make it either way, just a thought if you don't like the heat. If you do, you'll be fine.

A couple of things. The trail can be tough to follow around 5 miles up. It gets overgrown and kinda scary (snakes in the grass!), but a little scouting around will reveal it. At one point, you're heading right towards a creek, then the trail disappears. It shows up again a few feet past the creek, but is invisible before you get there. Brian and I got there around 4:00 a.m. and could see nothing in the darkness. I'd done the trail a few times in the daytime, but it was still confusing in the darkness. Not to worry. You'll find your way through.

Once you make your way through the haunted forest (you'll recognize it when you get there - tons of old, dead trees, no live ones) you'll come to a transition point where the terrain begins to change from desert to forest. There's a huge downed tree lying across the trail. At that point, I think you're about 3 1/2, maybe 4 miles from the Fuller Ridge Trailhead. Just to let you know you're almost there.

I know, I know... you have to get back to do those chores before you whip out a half Ironman triathlon in the afternoon
