Heh. Reading these stories actually make me feel better about taking my first trek up tomorrow. Clearly, these people were ill-prepared. 2 liters of water? And trying to hike back down from 6000', after exhausting his water supply?
I've kept up enough with the info from the experts here over the last couple of months that I think I'll fare much better. I've got the trail programmed into my GPS (with spare batteries), will be packing about 2 gallons of water & gatorade, and am planning on leaving the trailhead around 4 am.
My only worry is about parking my car in the museum parking lot. I've removed everything of value from inside. I'm tempted to just leave the windows rolled down so they won't get smashed.
