I could see those clouds today as well, but from the other side of the mountain. Looked like the clouds we get in the late summer.

Looks like some weather is coming in. Great for a cooler Skyline, not so great for those wanting to hike to the summit of San Jacinto after the Moonlight Skyline hike tomorrow (from the NOAA site):

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 37. Windy, with a west wind between 20 and 30 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph.

I see those round clouds over the high peaks all the time, anyone know the name or why they are caused?

those are lenticular clouds, they looks like the aliens are coming for a visit. I think it has to do with the way the air moves up and over mountains and the moisture amounts. very cool to see.
