Getting too warm in the low desert

Hello George Carlin's Ghost, I think I speak for most members of this form in saying you're being out of line. This is a civilized forum.

Thanks,

Larry

So many times one has the "chance to be positive and educate" and yet would rather take the "Low Road" and be critical of someone else's fears.

Zip, way to take the high road and invite learning.

Lermo, thanks for standing up for Zip and the good atmosphere we keep on this forum.

"George Carlin's Ghost" if you are going to hide in the "shadows" and only post "venom" you will be disliked and misunderstood, like the snakes and other "sulky" night creatures you are trying to defend. As for the content of your remarks we have a saying for those types of things - "If you are going to be a "Turd", then go lay in the yard" (the key word being "If")

Like Zip said if you want to bring something postive to the table that everyone can take away, please do so, we all like to learn from things.

I'll bet everyone on this board has run over a critter in his car, maybe more that one, on back roads, etc.. and while that is not intentional killing of animals, it's indirect intention by choosing to drive, feeling the need to protect oneself from potential danger is "Human Nature" and it's not the same thing as carrying a weapon or hunting them down to kill. So if you are going to cast stones, please review the history of the things you have killed before "badgering" someone on this board, please.

"George Carlin's Ghost" is probably just a troll. As such he has no point other than to cause trouble.

HJ, you didn't take the pun bait!

I thought for sure we'd see a string of animal puns like "If you CAT say anything nice..." and such!

Thanks guys for the support. I really appreciate how this board is like a big family, and I'm really hoping it stays that way.

Patrick, check your pm.

George Carlin's Ghost wrote:I’ve thought about this one can’t hold my tongue, and they DO have beer in Hell”

This zip guy and others! have a long standing irrational fear of critters.
It ain’t the first snake he’s killed!
I’ve been looking at his posts over the years!
Constant irrational fear!

I would suggest that Zip (and other squeamish types) run only on sidewalks, parks, and places where sudden disturbances of nature in their natural environment are lessened…especially during rattlesnake season!
Poor things are turbid and frozen in time…they hear your plodding feet, well before you ever see them. And are trying to get away OR lying completely still till you nearly step on them whilst yacking or running!

If you come upon one usually it’s because it couldn’t move fast enough to get out of the way of the stomping egos!!@!!

..anyone who is running looking at their watch for some time constantly can NOT BE TOO AWARE of their surroundings!
I’ve had trailrunners smack right into me on the trail looking for better time…

I always hike with hiking pole or stick that you can lead with!
then when I'm looking around enjoying nature and the beauty of the Creation, the wind in the tress, the smell on the breeze...I can wave that sucka around in front of me like I'm blind...well, I can't see as well as I used to but.......
See snakes all the time, love them!!

Gaither’s are a must especially with the brome... and the knee deep ego's on this forum!

Maybe if Zips ankles weren’t so dainty and covered up, prancing about, they wouldn’t look so tasty?

Sadly, over 60 percent of children under 5 are killed by their twisted parents!
Not snakes, not bears, in fact more deer cause more harm/death/injury through car accidents!

Sadly people like zip would rather have a world with NO SNAKES so that they can use RAID to kill/keep the rodents in check.
Dude, did you ever have a biology class that took? I seriously question your mental capacity in general!
RAID? what, I wouldn't have the stuff in my home or around my children!
bUT YOU KNOW WHAT I DON'T HAVE SNAKES OR RATS!
The only rat problem is the ego's here who have no life!

Excellent, a world where the corporate poison dealers kill our children and paranoid egomaniacs kill wildlife without a thought!

Best thing Zip could do is slow down, educate himself, his family, and learn to enjoy wildlife before it’s all just concrete, people, pharmaceuticals, and pesticides!

I personally believe that Wilderness should be enjoyed by hiking/backpacking…not selfish, noisy, egomaniac trail runners whose pressure wave rides ahead of them for a mile scaring-off everything that lives there most of the time! A lot of us go to the wilderness to enjoy wilderness...if we wanted to see jackasses running around we'd stay in the city! but then again I'm a senior crusty citizen whose been alive too long!

I too am just getting started with the hiking season, love the snakes, love the heat mostly because it keeps the city-fied, weekend bone-heads away!

Sista ludegirl you keep rocking it baby!
Hope you see ya out there...
Long live the Rats AND Snakes....ever hear of balance?...no NOT NEW BALANCE.......
8)

You have made two posts and I don't see anything positive about them. Shame on you for bashing someone like Zip-you don't even know him, he has one of the kindest souls I've met. we all have our own reasons for being out on the trails, who are you to make a rule book and then post it??? What you need to do is take some time to educate yourself on how to get along with others and/or just keep your mouth shut.

Zip runs to get more miles of wilderness enjoyment than most of us will ever see...and he very much enjoys it, he has a wonderful spirit of exploring and discovering. I have been with him when he has held snakes in his hands in amazement and I was the skittish one...

theres so much more I could say.....but most here have said it....rattlers are very much a concern with several of us who quite possibly spend more on or off trail time than you do..the snake fear humor thing ,keeps us aware this time of year.

So Crusty ? Where do you hike mostly? Let us get to know YOU...we all know Zip....and you couldn't find a better more enjoyable guy.
And his kids? Already showing to be far better, intelligent humans than you...

I'm not gonna snake around this....

...maybe you oughta get your selfrighteous ass back to hell and finish that six pack.

Wow. this is nuts. Look, zippetydude, what i said wasn't personal, I woulda said the same to anyone who did that. And its only an opinion. Everyone views things differently. Its not as if I said I hate you or something, hell, i dont even know you. It was simply the action I didn't like, not YOU as a person.

And, neverwashasbeen. I don't always go fast n run, i do lots of regular hiking and camping, and enjoy taking my time when Im not working-out. but those are for weekends. I do my faster hikes and jogs M-F as just a way to stay fit in between tough hikes.

that said though, Its obvious I dont fit in with this particular forum anyways. I dont hike at 3am because heat doesn't bother me. so I'll never get to hike with any of you anyways. :(
Thats not a dig or anything, so dont anyone freak out, lol. its just a fact...anyways. Sorry I pissed everyone off over the stupid snake stuff.
