Update on the BLM land giveaway, etc.

I'm keeping in touch with Wildhorse, aka Ken Garrett, chair of the Desert Trails Coalition. He told me that the BLM is going to seek an EIR (Environmental Impact Report), which is more involved than the EA (Environmental Assessment) they previously did. The good news for us is that the EIR requires public hearings. Needless to say, we would want to mobilize everyone to attend these hearings and make their Extreme Displeasure about the the giveaway of our trails known. We don't yet know when the hearings will be, but the fall is looking likely. I will post as soon as I have more info. Meanwhile, keep writing or calling Senator Diane Feinstein and complaining about this. We (i.e. various people in the DTC) can't seem to get her office to respond, but if enough people bug them, they will have to. Keep the pressure on.

Thank you so much again for fighting the good fight to protect this wonderful area. I'll write Senator Feinstein. The only person who responded to my e-letters and mailed letters that I sent last fall was Congresswoman Bono-Mack.
