On 4/16, Lcpl Hughes and I completed our first C2C. It was pretty freaking awesome, I must say. This route is amazing and deserves all the credit it receives. The snow was pretty soft all around and there were plenty of post holing opportunities. It was considerately warm at the museum when we hit the trailhead at 4:30 AM. I was surprised to start sweating so much.. We took a little break to enjoy our surroundings and eat some breakfast when we arrived at the picnic tables. I remember dropping my pack on a table and looking up towards Palm Springs at an incoming headlight.. I knew who it was right away. I couldn't even see the outlines of a person yet... but I knew it was Ellen! And sure enough, there she was, and then there she went! It was nice seeing you again on that trail Ellen, I hope you had a beer or two for us at the bar!
All went well; we took the sid davis drainage up to the peak and had the pleasure of seeing steve, fernando, and a few others topping out on the summit from snow creek. It was nothing short of epic to witness! Very cool to get to know you guys, and good job on the bad ass adventure. It was all smooth 'til we walked out the door at the lower tram station. Don's truck was still at the museum.. So we decided to walk it and we thought, "Hey maybe we'll get lucky and get a ride from somebody driving down." ...And what do you know, the snow creek gang drives by and we hop in their truck bed all the way down the road.. Man, were we stoked! Then Steve brought us back to the museum.. It was really more than we could have wished for! Thanks a lot guys, that was really nice and helpful of you guys. Don has some good pics of you guys at the top, I'm sure he will post them here.
Here are my pictures and video to come later...
