That's really fascinating, Hal. I didn't realize that there used to be a lake there. As a potter (I made pottery for a living for 20 years) I would love to come upon pottery shards while hiking. I really need to do more stuff out in the desert.

Is this Marteniz Canyon as well? We took the Jeep to the trail head yesterday and walked the creek for several miles. You are right, it is awesome. As always, thanks for sharing and inspiring.
